Plot[]
Breaking Point started off with Rowley being constipated and he later inviting Greg to his house. His parents aren’t there for some reason, and Greg is curious why. He finds a dead cat while being left in the room for hours. Rowley gets some magic powder, and Greg wakes up on the floor the next day. He tells Frank, who tells him it was drugs and he should avoid Rowley.
However, at the next day, Rowley invites Greg to his house again. This time, Greg refused to go to his house after realizing what his dad said the other day. When Rowley hears this, he later gets really angry. Then he grabs Greg, saying “how about now?” and kisses him. Greg later punches Rowley in the face and told him to back off.
After that incident, Greg became a huge mess lately, because after the fight, Rowley has been photo shopping pictures of Greg into doing crazy things. Susan comes into his room and said that she was mad that Greg stayed in his room since summer started. She also wanted him to go to summer camp again. Greg didn’t want to go there because he needed to catch up on Rowley’s posts and tell everybody that he is not what they think he is. However, his mom said if he didn’t come to summer camp, she’d put him up for adoption again. Greg didn’t want to go back to the adoption center so he said ok.
After his mom left the room, Greg took out some old stuff out of his old bag. Then he added some useful stuff in there like flashlights, Drummies, and clothes. After that he relaxed on his bed until his older brother Rodrick came in. He tells Greg that his mom told him to go to camp with Greg to spend some “quality time” and maybe get to know each other better, however Greg knows Rodrick that much.
The next day when Greg and Rodrick were eating breakfast together, Greg asked Rodrick what camp they were going to. Rodrick replied that they were going to Camp Unlucky Clover and that he was going to bring a jar. Greg asked why and Rodrick said that he was gonna catch a Leprechaun. When they both went to the car, Greg asked why Manny wasn’t coming. His mom said that when she saw him grabbing a garbage bag, she thought he was busy with something. Hearing this, Greg got chills down his spine.
When they arrived at Camp Unlucky Clover, Greg got lost and was separated by Rodrick because there were too much kids there. Greg got an unnerving feeling about the place because he saw all the kids crying there and one kid was saying “leave while you still can” to him. Greg was asking the kid what he was talking about when he got interrupted by a loud car horn. The horn ended up to be Rodrick honking the horn in his van. Greg asked how Rodrick got the van to the camp. He said that his friend brought it to him so Rodrick’s mom could not pick Rodrick and Greg up. Then Rodrick parked the van somewhere without the councilors seeing it. When Rodrick finished his story, it was already getting dark. The councilors said that they had to sleep for the “big day” tomorrow. So all the campers went to sleep after that.
The next day, Rodrick woke Greg up because the councilors had an important message to tell the campers. So Greg woke up and went with Rodrick to the councilors. For the second time, the brothers were separated again because of too much kids. The councilors said that it was their first day to do child labor. Hearing this, Greg is silent and now realizes that his mom was sending him and Rodrick to a child labor camp.
After the councilors’ speech, the kids started to work. The first thing they did was carry some trash bags that smelled really bad. The next thing they did was carry drugs to trucks. After that, the campers went to sleep. Later that night, Greg was jolted awake because he had a nightmare and he had to get out of the camp.
